DESCRIPTION: Incorporated in 1899, the City of Warrenton, located in Clatsop County on the beautiful northwestern tip of Oregon, is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the mighty Columbia River on the north. With a population of approximately 4,650 residents, Warrenton preserves its small town atmosphere in the midst of busy marinas, recreational areas, and historical attractions.

The Public Works Department is a full service municipal department responsible for prioritizing, planning, construction, maintenance, and operations of the city's utilities and streets/roads, as well as responsibility for dikes, parks, and sanitation. The department has seven fulltime employees and a budget for 2010 of $17.1 million. Reporting to the City Manager, the Public Works Director plans, administers, and directs the functions, activities, and operations of the department.

The ideal candidate should have eight to ten years of increasingly responsible public works experience, including supervisory responsibility, at a comparable agency. A degree in engineering, public administration, architecture, or a closely related field is preferred. Any combination of education and experience may be substituted as long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
